In the 90′s Kathleen Hanna was lead singer of the legendary punk band Bikini Kill, and was a key part of the Riot Girl movement. Working with various other artists from Fugazi to Bratmobile, and releasing a split LP with Huggy Bear here in the UK. It was no secret she was great friends with Kurt Cobain and this video gives us a little insight into their relationship and how the title ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ came about (if you didn’t know already).

Filmed on December 15th 2010 at Joe’s Pub in New York City its makes for a very funny story, and includes a performance of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and Bikini Kill’s 1993 7″ ‘Rebel Girl’.

Oh, and there’s even a few tips on how to raise a bit of tour money…
